Did anyone in my circle of influence think it was a good idea to don a Pink Wig and teach people about money and life? Nope. Sometimes we take a chance, stick our neck out, challenge the status quo and change the damn world! Let's take a look.
One of the messages behind The Crazy Man in the Pink Wig is this idea that it is okay to be different. It is not only okay, it is good! Why? Because you are different and so am I and so are all other human beings. Where we go wrong is trying to be like others. We try to fit in and be something we are not. To hell with that! Be crazy enough and courageous enough to blaze your own path, finding YOU along the way.
Another message behind this pink wig is this idea that you have to look cool to fit in to the cool parts of society. That is a mistake. Reject this idea of trying to be cool and fit in. Embrace the idea of separating yourself from the crowd even if they think you are weird, strange and even crazy. It might just mean that you are on the right path, which is your path. Just be the best version of you. Screw fitting in!
If you look closely, you will see I AM under that pink wig when worn on my shirt. I AM the answer to my money and my life. That is a very important statement and one has to say it again and again until it becomes reality. There is no one who is going to come in and save you. No politician, no parent, no spouse, no teacher, no boss, no one. YOU are the answer to a better life. Watch this. It can change the way you think!
Another message that comes with the pink wig is this idea of rejecting materialism and all the expensive "stuff" that goes with it. The folks that fall into this trap (known as the Joneses) are living paycheck to paycheck, stressed out over money and fighting about it behind closed doors. Your eyes can play tricks on you. The Joneses are living a life they did not expect. They ended up becoming slaves to their stuff.
The Crazy Man in the Pink Wig represents a certain way of thinking. It rejects conformity. It rejects group think. It rejects the idea that you have to be a certain way to be accepted into society. It becomes the opposite message. Focus on being good with who you are as you reject this idea of buying happiness. It does not work. It has never worked. And it never will work. Think for yourself!
You can be the crazy woman in the pink wig. The crazy grandma in the pink wig. The crazy teenager in the pink wig. It comes down to being willing to go your own way even as society pushes you their way. Is it easy? Nope. The easy path is to do what others want you to do. The hard path is to find your way and then walk it, obstacles and all. The answers to a better life lie along that path.
Why the pink wig? Once upon a time a three year old by the name of Gracethought it was funny when I put it on my head. She laughed. Her mother took a picture. I decided to post the photo on Facebook. Someone called me that crazy guy in the pink wig. Eureka! This was the visual that was missing from this life that I had been living for decades. Here we are, the three of us all grown up.
I had been living a different life than others. I stuck out and many people thought I was weird and strange. I tried as best I could to stick to my path. It was hard as a young person. It became easier with age. Finally, at the ripe ole age of 45, I finally had a visual image that represented this life that I had been living. I encourage you to challenge the world in front of you. Many people ask me "where is my pink wig?" The truth is, I am always wearing it. I wear it metaphorically, many times I wear it on my shirt, sometimes, on my head!
